Possible Interview Questions for Teachers

What are the ways you are creative within your lessons?

Do you find any creative methods that really work well or engage the children you teach?

What is the process you undertake when you plan lessons? (Is it a collaborative process or individual? Are you given a set structure?)

What would you say is important for teachers to remember when they are teaching?

What skills are important to have as a teacher?

How do you feel about the National Curriculum and is there anything you would change about it?

Would you say schools are killing creativity?

I would really like to know more about the creative process in terms of lesson planning and how teachers go about creative such plans. As a result, I have compiled these questions which I plan to possibly ask teachers of a 'creative' background as well as teachers who specialise in more academic subjects.

  1. Hi Emma

I'm so glad I came across your blog. I believe I'm a module behind you (I'm module 2) but this is an area I'm interested in and need to research. I teach for a local dance school where the focus is on technique and syllabus (I do obviously try to embed creative tasks) and work in a secondary school where many students lack proper training and technique but are given lots of opportunity to create and develop their own dances. I hadn't thought about asking 'academic' subject teachers about how they are creative within their lessons or about potential creativity within the lesson planning process. Is it creative at all or are they given a set structure, as you suggest?

Your post has given me a few more things to think about and look into, so thank you! I will be sure to follow your blog as you continue.

    1. Hi Natalie,

I'm so glad you found this helpful! It really interests me how teachers incorporate creativity within their classrooms and so far it's been really insightful for me to see how current Educational establishments are achieving this.

I hope you gain more from following my blog and I hope to gain an insight into your journey too!

  2. Hi Emma, As Im reading through your post I find myself thinking about the creative imagery I use when teaching adults. I find it a much easier way of explaining a feeling or position in the body by connecting it with an image. I think it is used alot when also teaching children as they are surrounded with images through TV, internet and school. Hope your inquiry is going well, Alicia

    1. Alicia, This is a great insight into creative methods within teaching, so thank you for your contribution! I've so far noticed from observations in my investigation that imagery works incredibly well when teaching children. They appear so much more engaged when a teacher presents a physicality or uses drawings or colours on the board to help them! Hope all is going well with your work!
